TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
"I believe music has the power to reach the bottom of your heart and enrich your life. My goal as a teacher is to make music your lifelong friend, so you can always have a faithful 'friend' who is there to help you express your joy and sorrow in your life. It will be a mirror to understand yourself and your growth. I believe in triggering intrinsic motivation. I take time to understand what interests my students. I listen and connect with them. I allow them much space to explore and find their own preferences and voice in learning. I take more time to build the foundation for interest than the learning foundation because, without interest, learning cannot go far. I focus a lot on the connection between the body and mind to excel in techniques and musicality. I help students build practice strategies and musical vocabulary so that they can be confident and creative. Essentially, I am teaching you how to "follow your heart" which is to find your intuition and to trust your instinct - that does not come without serious practice though. I can't promise you it is only sunshine and happy days in piano learning, but I can promise you that this will be a rewarding experience."
